Triangle Char & Bar

Makenzie ยท

Triangle Char & Bar is on Savannah Highway in West Ashley, and it's the kind of sports bar that takes the food more seriously than most of its competitors. The house line is built around grass-fed, grain-finished beef sourced from South Carolina cattle herds raised on local pasture, which is a real claim for a place that's also got TVs on the walls and a full bar. The burgers are the point - the truffle shuffle is the one people remember - and the Sunday brunch is what has been drawing lines around the block for years, with a Lowcountry jazz brunch that the Post and Courier ran a piece on. There's an eclectic menu for a sports bar: chorizo hash, mahi tacos, fried green tomatoes, and a mac and cheese that comes out on a lollipop stick.

The room is loud, and that's the thing - on a busy day you'll be talking over each other, which is the trade-off for the energy. The crowd is local and family-friendly, the price is casual, and the dog-friendly policy means the whole group can come. It's the easy, reliable version of a neighborhood spot that does the burgers right and the brunch even better.
